Looking over the hills from this 100 year old “post and beam” barn, one would almost think that Grant Wood himself had been inspired by this awesome countryside. Completely renovated to maintain a rustic environment, our barn promotes togetherness and lots of fun.
When you reserve the barn, the entire barn is yours. The 30×60 foot hayloft has been converted into five levels for living and sleeping.
Ranging from three private bedrooms to two dorm-style bedrooms to two lofts (accessible by ladders for the younger set), 20+ could sleep quite comfortably.
You will find a full kitchen, dining accommodations for 20+, 3 bathrooms, a fireplace, and a game room, along with a 60’x12’ covered porch and a fire pit, where you can sit outside to enjoy the view that our forefathers affectionately named “Little Switzerland”.
Northeast Iowa is bustling with activities. Barn on the Bluff is located on Highway 13 just 4 miles south of Elkader in Clayton County near Iowa’s Welcome Center.
Some of the many area activities include productions at the 1903 Opera House, first-run movies at the refurbished Main Street Cinema Theater, golfing, hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking/biking trails, historical sights, museums and many unique shops and restaurants.
